Everyone has their own journey for finding happiness in life. The following steps will be helpful for anyone who wants to increase their happiness. Of course, the path will be different for each person.
Step 1. Recognize your choices. Everything you do in life is a choice. It may not always seem that way, but it's true. Some choices have consequences so severe that it doesn't seem like a choice at all, but there's always (with very few exceptions) a choice. Through the choices you make, you are in control of your life. You can continually make choices that lead to your happiness.
Step 2. Happy people self-validate instead of relying on other people to validate them. You can validate yourself by setting standards for yourself. Then regularly ask yourself, as honestly as you can, if you met the standards you set. Relying on other people to validate you is a barrier to happiness in life.
Step 3. Invest yourself in doing what makes you happy. Don't let any mental barriers get in your way. If you don't know what makes you happy, do what you are good at. People are more likely to be happy if they are doing what they are naturally good at doing.
